How to Remove Stains from Your Shirt (Without Damaging It)

Nothing ruins your day like a stain on your favorite shirt. Whether it’s coffee, red wine or sweat – you want it gone, but without damaging your shirt. These tips will help you remove stains safely and effectively. 👌

At Vercate, we use premium fabrics like Japanese Knitted cotton, which stay beautiful for years – if treated well. Read on for smart stain-removal tactics!

1. ☕ Grease and food stains

Got a drop of olive oil or some sauce on your shirt?

Here’s what to do:

  • Blot the stain (don’t rub!) with a dry cloth

  • Sprinkle dish soap or baking soda directly on it

  • Let it sit for 10–15 minutes

  • Rinse with lukewarm water and wash at 30°C

💡 Avoid hot water – it will set the stain!

2. 🍷 Red wine or coffee

Spilled your glass of wine? Don’t panic!

To remove wine or coffee stains:

  • Blot with a clean cloth

  • Pour cold sparkling water or white wine over it

  • Let it soak, then wash as usual

👉 For stubborn stains: use a stain remover before washing.

3. 🧼 Sweat stains under the arms

Yellow armpit stains? Caused by the mix of deodorant and sweat salts.

Here’s a natural solution:

  • Mix baking soda and lemon juice into a paste

  • Apply to the stain and leave for 1 hour

  • Wash on low temp (max 30°C)

🧠 Did you know synthetic deodorants often cause more staining? Try a natural one!

4. ✍️ Ink and pen stains

Pen exploded in your pocket? 😩

Act fast:

  • Place paper towel under the fabric

  • Dab with a cotton pad soaked in alcohol or milk

  • Rinse and wash your shirt as normal

🧴 Never use bleach on luxury fabrics – it will damage the fibers.

✅ General tips

  • Always turn shirts inside out before washing

  • Avoid aggressive bleach

  • Never iron over stains before washing

  • Use a laundry bag for delicate materials
