Linnen overhemd

Washing linen: doing it the right way!

Linen is a beautiful, breathable fabric that is perfect for hot days. But how do you wash linen without damaging or shrinking it? Follow these simple steps for fresh and wrinkle-free results.

1. Use a mild wash programme

Linen is a natural fibre and can shrink at too high temperatures. Wash it at 30-40°C maximum on a delicate cycle. Use a mild detergent without harsh chemicals.

2. Wash linen separately or with similar fabrics

Avoid friction and damage by not washing linen together with heavy fabrics, such as jeans or towels.

3. Do not overload

Linen needs space in the washing machine to get clean properly. Do not overload the drum and let the fabric breathe.

4. Spin lightly or not at all

A high spin speed causes creases. Choose a low setting (max 600 rpm) or skip the spin cycle and let the linen air dry.

5. Drying and ironing

Hang linen immediately after washing to minimise creasing. Iron it slightly damp on a medium-high heat for a smooth result.
