Hoe voorkom je dat cashmere gaat pillen?

How to Prevent Cashmere from Pilling

Cashmere is loved for its softness and luxurious feel — but even the finest quality can sometimes form small fabric balls, known as pilling. The good news? It’s completely normal and easy to prevent. Here’s how to keep your cashmere in perfect condition.

👉 Discover our Cashmere Half-Zips.

1. What is pilling?

Pilling occurs when loose fibers rub together and form small balls on the surface of the fabric. It’s most common in areas with friction, such as under the arms or sleeves.

2. Invest in quality

High-quality cashmere — like our carefully crafted blends — contains longer, stronger fibers that are less prone to pilling than cheaper, short-fiber versions.

Explore our sweaters and half-zips to feel the difference.

3. Wash with care

  • Use cold hand wash or the wool cycle on your washing machine.

  • Choose a mild wool detergent.

  • Lay flat to dry on a towel (never hang).

This preserves the delicate structure of the fibers.

4. Avoid excessive friction

Don’t wear cashmere too tightly under jackets or backpacks. Rotate your pieces — giving the fibers time to rest helps prevent pilling naturally.

5. Use a cashmere comb or fabric stone

Gently remove any pilling with a cashmere comb or fine fabric stone. This keeps the surface smooth and soft without damaging the fibers.
