Linen Shirts

Linen shirts are perfect for hot summer days. They feel light and breathable, making them comfortable to wear.

Linen

Did you know that linen is one of the oldest fabrics in the world? The use of linen goes all the way back to ancient Egypt. Here it was used for mummification and symbolised purity and wealth.

The linen shirt is well known. It is wonderfully airy, wears comfortably and is very pleasant when temperatures rise. The linen fabric naturally does not contain very much stretch. For a more comfortable fit, a linen shirt should therefore be fitted somewhat looser.

Breathable

Linen has excellent breathability properties, keeping the body cool in hot weather conditions. It has a natural moisture-wicking property, so it absorbs and evaporates moisture quickly. This helps to wick sweat and moisture away from the body, leaving you feeling fresh and dry. Linen's breathability also helps prevent overheating, making it an ideal choice for hot summers or humid climates. This makes linen a special material.

Sustainable choice

Linen is a natural product extracted from the stems of the flax plant. The flax plant grows particularly well in the temperate climate of the Netherlands, Belgium and France. Linen is a sustainable product because flax is a fast grower; it takes about a hundred days to grow. Moreover, the plant needs little water and pesticides are unnecessary. This makes growing linen one of the most environmentally friendly in the world.

A material with character

Let's start by saying that linen is one of the few fabrics that is allowed to crease, and where it is accepted. As linen is a natural product, wrinkles are allowed to be visible, even on a shirt. Should you still prefer not to see creases, you can also choose a shirt made of a combination of linen and cotton. This will make your shirt crease a lot less.

How do you keep a linen shirt looking good for a long time?

To get the maximum value out of your shirt, wash it at low temperature with fabric softener. Deep-coloured fabric should rather be washed by hand. Do not put the shirt in the dryer, but hang it out of the sun on a clothesline or laundry rack. You iron it at a high temperature to get the creases out. But you can also leave that out.
