Hoe hoort een overhemd te passen?

How should a shirt fit?

A well-fitting shirt makes all the difference. Whether it's a casual shirt or a cutaway shirt from Vercate, the right fit ensures a stylish and confident appearance.

Let’s break down what a perfect fit looks like — piece by piece.

👤 1. Shoulders: the foundation matters

  • Shoulder seams should end exactly at your shoulder bone

  • Too far out = droopy look

  • Too far in = tight and uncomfortable

🎯 Tip: Vercate slim fit shirts are tailored for a sharp silhouette without restriction.

✋ 2. Sleeves: fitted, but flexible

  • Fabric should gently hug your arms

  • Full movement should still feel easy

  • Cuffs should stop right at your wrist bone

💡 Bend your elbow to 90° — if it’s still comfortable, you’re good.

🔽 3. Waist: tapered, not tight

  • The shirt should follow your shape

  • Avoid excess fabric at the sides

  • Buttons shouldn’t pull across your midsection

🧵 Vercate shirts offer gentle tapering — great for both athletic and average builds.

📏 4. Length: depends on your style

  • Tuck-in shirts should be long enough to stay put

  • Untucked shirts should hit mid-zipper or just below

👉 Our Japanese Knitted Shirts are cut to work tucked or untucked.

🧼 5. Collar: close, but comfortable

  • You should be able to slip one finger between collar and neck

  • The collar should hold its shape, even when worn open

🧠 Vercate uses the cutaway collar — versatile, timeless, and flattering.
